Falso Azufre is within the following mountain ranges: Argentine Andes, Puna de Atacama, Andean Volcaninc Belt (Central Part), Cordillera de San Buenaventura. It is the highest of Cordillera de San Buenaventura. It is on the border of 3 provinces: Argentinean province of Catamarca; Chilean provinces of Chañaral and Copiapo. Its slopes are within 3 cities: Argentinean city of Antofagasta de la Sierra; Chilean cities of Copiapó and Diego de Almagro.
