Tres Cruces Sur is a mountain subrange at the border of Argentina and Chile with an elevation of 6760 metres. Tres Cruces Sur is within the following mountain ranges: Argentine Andes, Chilean Andes, Puna de Atacama. Its territory is within the Argentinean protection area of Catamarca High Andean and Puna Lakes Ramsar Site. It is on the border of 2 provinces: Argentinean province of Catamarca; Chilean province of Copiapo. Its slopes are within 2 cities: Argentinean city of Fiambalá; Chilean city of Copiapó.All available DEMs have no voids in this area apart from glacier down south face. Based on TandemX overestimation of ~+20m in this area, summit should be around 6758m, based on SRTM margin in this area -10~18m plus considering the summit is located on the top of a sharp rock pinnacle, SRTM's accuracy of 90m would definitely underestimate the summit, so is fair to say based on SRTM the summit is at least 30m higher. Same problem with ASTER. Therefore it is resonable to say Tres Cruces Sur isn't lower than 6760m. Maximo Kausch's handheld gps reading in 2011 says the highest point reached was 6765 metres. So is fair to consider 6760 as correct altitude. The height of the nearest key col is 5330 meters so its prominence is 1430 meters. Tres Cruces Sur is listed as mountain subrange, based on the Dominance system and its dominance is 21.15%.
