Its territory is within the Argentinean protection area of Natural Provincial Reserve and Biosphere of Laguna Blanca. It is located at the Argentinean province of Catamarca. Its slopes are within 2 cities: Argentinean cities of Antofagasta de la Sierra and Villa Vil.
