Puquintica is within the following mountain ranges: Bolivian Andes, Chilean Andes, Cordillera Occidental de Bolivia, Puna de Atacama, Andean Volcaninc Belt (Central Part). Its territory is within the Chilean protection area of Las Vicuñas National Reserve. It is on the border of 2 provinces: Chilean province of Parinacota; Bolivian province of Sabaya. Its slopes are within 2 cities: Chilean city of Putre; Bolivian city of Sabaya.
